CONNECTIONS | Edmonton & Houston
Jul 11 - Aug 16, 2015
Showing at Galveston Arts Center from July 12 through August 16 is CONNECTIONS, featuring a talented roster of 12 printmakers from the Houston, TX area and 12 printmakers from the Edmonton, Alberta area in Canada. The goal of the exhibition, curated by Clint Willour, is to create dialogue, and provide inspiration through the art of printmaking.
Approximately 1,900 miles apart, PrintMatters in Houston and the Society of Northern Alberta Printmakers (SNAP) in Edmonton come together at the Galveston Arts Center during the annual PrintHouston Festival this summer in the exhibition CONNECTIONS. The international exhibition of 24 printmaker artists showcases a variety of print disciplines for the local community experience. All pieces in the exhibition are 15x20 inches on paper, yet each artwork is made by a different artist and is uniquely its own.
CONNECTIONS is comprised of 12 twelve Houston-area artists from PrintMatters: Janet Badger, Marie Leterme, Linde Pieper, Ruth Shouval, Andis Applewhite, Kelly Moran, Katherine Fields, Helen Gerritzen, Leamon Green, Shanti Conlin, Christopher Wallace and Cathie Kayser; and 12 artists from the Society of Northern Alberta Printmakers (SNAP): Richard Borowski, Karen Cassidy, Sean Caulfield, Mark Dutton, April Dean, Daniel Evans, Kyla Fischer, Dara Humniski, Sara Norquay, Megan Stein, Lisa Turner, and Tracy Wormsbecker.
The Opening Reception for CONNECTIONS will be held from 6:00-9:00PM during Galveston Art Walk on Saturday, July 11th, 2015, as part of the annual PrintHouston Festival. Members from PrintMatters Houston will give a public gallery talk starting at 6:30PM on opening night. A Video presentation from SNAP will also be on view, introducing the representative artists from Alberta. The exhibit will remain on view through August 16th, 2015.
The exhibit will be held at the Galveston Arts Center, located at the corner of Market and 25th Streets in Galveston, TX. The gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is free at all times.
