Drawing the human figure from a live model is an essential element of any visual artists' developmental toolkit. Whether your focus/interest is portraiture, illustration, animation, fashion design, or just improving your observational skills, you will find a regular life drawing practice both beneficial and enjoyable.
Each session begins with the model taking a series of short, dynamic poses or “gestures” for up to 2 minutes each, followed by progressively longer poses up to 50 minutes, sometimes incorporating furniture and/or props.
Focus is on the study of the human figure in its natural state; models typically pose nude or, occasionally, semi-clothed/draped.
Bring your own drawing or painting supplies. Our large, well-lit studio is equipped with 8 standing easels and 16 adjustable-angle drafting tabletops and backless stools. Viewing is typically set up in a semi-circular configuration around a small stage with adjustable spotlights.
