WHy REGISTer for artwalk?

A lot of work goes into organizing and promoting ArtWalk! If your business, gallery, nonprofit, or event benefits from ArtWalk traffic, please consider registering at the level that is appropriate for you.

  • Galveston Arts Center will launch an annual ArtWalk book for visitors to keep and use all year!
New: ArtWalk in 2025 is monthly!

  • ArtWalk will also be included in the Galveston Discovery Map.

  • Those on our mailing list also receive an announcement via GAC’s e-newsletter the week before.

ArtWalk Registration FAQ

  • Participating ArtWalk locations must be located in Galveston and must feature new or regularly changing displays of artists’ original work. They can be commercial galleries, nonprofits, museums, studios, performing arts venues, or other businesses that prominently feature the original work of artists for visitors to view and/or purchase.

  • Galveston Arts Center does not restrict or review artwork displayed at participating locations other than its own. The artwork featured during ArtWalk need not be local; it can come from anywhere and be made in any style and media. The work does not need to be for sale.

  • Participating locations must grant free public access during evening hours on the day of ArtWalk. This may mean staying open later than usual. Suggested hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. It is popular, though not mandatory, to play music and/or serve refreshments during these hours, and for the featured artist(s) to be present.

  • You can still be open and welcome ArtWalk visitors! Especially if you are located downtown, you will likely see ArtWalk visitors anyway!

  • If you are looking for a location to display your work during ArtWalk, we strongly recommend you visit Galveston’s many galleries and artist-supporting businesses in person. Most of these are listed on the ArtWalk page. This will help you identify places where your work might be appropriate. Then ask for their artist submission guidelines. Be respectful of employee’s time; i.e., do not expect someone to look at your portfolio on the spot. Gallerists often appreciate the opportunity to view your work online before calling you or scheduling a meeting. Good luck!

  • The main aim of ArtWalk it to highlight existing locations such as galleries and “Other Walls” that display artists’ work. Galveston Arts Center does not issue vending permits. Sidewalk vendors/peddlers are advised to obtain a permit from the City of Galveston.

  • Most ArtWalk Locations and Exhibition Spaces will have a dot on our official map. If your location or exhibition space address is beyond the boundaries of the printed map, your listing will contain an asterisk indicating it is outside of the cultural district. Rest assured that your location or exhibition space will be included and a dot will be provided on the interactive google map located on the ArtWalk page of our website.

Sign up for the annual ArtWalk package for the calendar year 2025!

The annual package runs exclusively from January through December. Registrations received after the registration deadline of December 20 cannot be accepted.

This will be the ONLY registration for ArtWalk for the entire year.

The cost to participate in the annual package is $540. This is a $220 reduction in price for exhibiting locations from previous years!

There is an early bird option to receive a $100 discount and pay only $440 for the entire year! The deadline for the early bird discount is December 5.

If you want to be billed quarterly, you can pay for the whole year in four installments of $135. If you want to be billed monthly, you can pay for the entire year in twelve installments of $45. The early bird discount only applies to paying for the entire year.

For locations that are not featuring art/artists, you can pay $360 for the entire year, or $300 in the early bird discount window before December 5. These locations will be classified as Friends of ArtWalk.

The Galveston Arts Center is launching an annual ArtWalk magazine-style book for visitors to keep and use all year long. Your registration with GAC before the final December 20 deadline will ensure your location is included in the annual book. Exhibiting locations will receive a 2-page feature spread and Friends of ArtWalk will receive a 1-page feature. Sponsors will receive a 1-page feature and inclusion throughout the book.

You are not required to host an event every single month. You can and GAC encourages you to try something new for the bonus ArtWalk months. At the very least, GAC asks that you stay open late and welcome visitors. GAC’s exhibition schedule is not changing and is included on this page which you can use to coordinate your schedules.
