Exploration of Visual Culture

For Adults
This four-week art class integrates discussions on visual culture concepts with hands-on art projects. Beginning with an introduction to visual culture, moving through non-Western art, resurgence of fiber arts, and transformative art upcycling everyday items into pop art pieces.
POLICIES
Please pre-register by Oct 15, 2024. Late enrollment is allowed, however there may be a delay in materials for late enrollment.
Missed classes will not be refunded.
In the rare event of cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, a reasonable effort will be made to schedule a make-up class session on an alternate date, or your fee can be applied to a different class.
Group communications is handled via email. Please check your inbox for announcements before class.
For liability reasons, please do not register a student who is a minor unless you are their parent or legal guardian.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Julie Winston is a retired art educator with over 24 years of experience teaching middle and high school art. She has a bachelor's degree in art and a master’s degree in art history and visual culture. She enjoys being a resident of Galveston and volunteers with several organizations in town. As an artist, she considers herself a dabbler in all mediums and loves to work with upcycled materials.
